First Fashion show: Featuring my lily cocktail dress

A charity fashion show held by 'Secret Wardrobe' featured my lily cocktail dress, fellow HND fashion students dresses and some collections from secret wardrobe. It was a fantastic night that I will learn and develop from.

We had to two runs on the catwalk, The first being a natural theme and the second run being more 'rock/grunge' theme.

Advice when purchasing a suit in 2011

Buying a new suit can be a hassle, but it does not have to be!

Colours 


When it comes to buying a new suit either for work,weddings,casual then different styles of grey is the one to buy. It has proven most popular in runways and has completely put the past popular 'navy' in the shade.

Buttons

Three buttoned suits are completely out and if possible try to avoid. One or two buttons would be best.

Vents

The type of vent to go for in a jacket would be a double vent. Although single vent and no vent is not 'out', it's not considered to be 'in' either, so personal choice really.

When trying on a suit

Trousers:  Make sure the trouser leg sits just at the tip of your heel and not over it.

Jacket:     Make sure the sleeves reach the start of your thumb when your arms are down and relaxed.

TIP

Lily cocktail dress finished!

My Lily cocktail dress is now complete and so is my first year at
College its been hard work but been fun.

My College Work

My first year doing Fashion is nearly over. Boy, I have learnt so much and I am only going to be learning lots more.

Below are some of my own designs I have made from sketches, source-book pictures and promotional boards that I have been working on for my fashion commercial design class. In this class we had to carry out research on a brand ( I decided upon H&M) and present a new collection inspired from a selected theme, my theme being 'Vibration'. I had to show what I interpreted from the theme by using a mood-board, source book then to actually get down to drawing our designs down on paper and bring this all together to present this to a mock panel. Glad to say I passed!

YEA! I finally met one of my favorite bands, 'The Wombats and a friend got me and my other friend back stage to meet them! We got our CD signed (with a sharpie of course) and got a photo.

They even let us just chill backstage with them after the gig! :) x

Kick-ass with these on!

These are the most incredible boots I have seen in a long time and should be worn at all times (even in bed lol).

I have now got them since wanting them all the way from Xmas but after trying

to save up and failing a very generous friend got them for me :).

I bought this cool canvas 'man-bag' from 'Topman'...

It is dark blue canvas with real leather straps which makes it really stand out and gives it more appeal.

At first I was not going to get it because I would only use it for college and to constantly undo the straps everytime I went for a textbook, pen or money I would have the nuisance of unstrapping and strapping it back up. Luckily this bag casually disguises that the straps are actaully held together by well disguised buttons! '

A voice of pure passion and soul.

Adele (Laurie Blue Adkins) is one of my favourite female artist I have been following her since her debut single 'Hometown Glory'. Her songs truly relate to me and over the years has become the soundtrack to my life. From hearing her in shops, adverts and on my own mp3 on the bus. After being the only artist (apart from the beatles in 1964) to have 2 albums and 2 singles in the top 5 from the top 4o she has certainly left a good name for herself.

People now mostly know Adele from her latest performance at 'The Brits' which was simply magical. This is the video below.

Marilyn Monroe...Not so priceless :(

One of the biggest stars Marilyn Monroe has been bought!..Well her image rights by Jamie Salter the multi-millionaire.

Being a big fan of Marilyn' it kinda upset me a little but this means her legacy may continue because there is already talk of her being animated in future films. Hopefully their 're-invented animated version of her will be just as good and even though its almost five decades since her death she will live on.

Lady GaGa...I'm Not Bluffin..

Lady Gaga has obviously made a huge influence on the music and fashion world exploring genres and tastes other artists cant even imagine doing. So its only natural she would make an appearance in my blog. It was also announced that she will be releasing some tracks of her new album during Paris fashion week (feb 11) so we can look forward to hearing some of her new sell-out tunes soon.
